Maa Kalratri's Story (Maa Kalratri Ki Katha in Hindi):

Legend has it that the three demons Shumbh Nishumbha and Raktabeej formerly terrorised the three planets. All the gods were disturbed by this and approached Lord Shiva for a solution. Lord Shiva then instructed Mother Adishakti to murder all three of them while protecting their believers. Mata Parvati then assumed the shape of Maa Durga to punish the wicked. By fighting with Shumbh and Nishumbh, the mother put a stop to them. However, as soon as the mother attacked Raktabeej, her blood created a large number of Raktabeejs. When Goddess Durga saw this, she took the form of Kalratri. After that, Maa Kalratri began attacking Raktabeej, filling her lips with his blood and slitting Raktabeej's throat. Mother's skin is as dark as the darkness. The hair of Goddess Kalratri has been spread, and a garland of male hairs has been ensconced around the mother's neck.
